Altec 620A vs Altec Model 19

There are a lot of variables to your question that could change things.. Like Room Size,Amps,Music to be Played,etc,etc... If you can give examples of how they are to be used would help... They are both great speakers... Actually the 620A is just an enclosure that usually houses a 604-8G duplex speaker...

I've got 2 sets of 604's (B's & E's) and they are definitely excellent speakers. However the bass is way better in the 2 pairs of model 19's that I have. The cabinet design of the model 19's, separate speakers (416b & 802-8g) along with Z19 crossover is really hard to beat.

I've probably had 25 different people over to list to the 19's and they we're all more impressed with the 19's over the 604's.

What cabinet are your 604's in? I went from 19's to 604's in 620b's with updated K crossovers and will admit the bass is just slight less than the 19's. No so much as I really regret letting the 19's go. If I had more room I'd have both..

Both sets are more Stonehenge III cabinets. I most recently build a set of them and really never got a chance to listen to them in depth as I ended up moving. Will check them out again, once I get moved into our new place sometime in mid August.

Still, the 19's blow me away. I tend to listen to music loud and I'm not sure there's a much better speaker out there for my needs. I continue to look (20+ years).....

I don't think you would be disappoint in either one. I have owned the Model 17's for about 7 years and love them. I have never heard 19's. My listening room is on the small side, which I think makes the 17's the best fit for me.
