Altec A7s for???

I have a pair of Altec Lansing A7s I would like to trade for something I want a pair of Cornwalls or a McIntosh power amp. One or the other not both. Am I out of line?? or is my desire reasonable? Thanks so much for your help

The big Altecs are so often parted out that it might be best to value them according to their drivers and crossover. In any case it seems the Cornwalls should be a fair trade, one nice big pair of speakers for another. I have very little knowledge of Mac prices so I can't help you there.

FWIW, I would never trade a pair of A7s for a pair of Cornwalls - I say this as an ex-Cornwall owner... YMMV, of course.

Depends which Mc power amp is with them.

Cornwalls alone? Never for true A7's.

Well.... something like an MC-30 or MC-60 (or a Marantz 8B) will make a Corny sound about as good as it'll sound - I'll agree with you there!

I'd probably trade the A7s for, say, a pair of MC-30s (or an MC-225, perhaps?) - but then what would I use the Mac(s) for, once I had 'em?

A7s are worth about $3k aren't they? If it were me I certainly wouldnt trade A7s for Cornwalls. Maybe some Tannoys..
