Mr. Robinson's review of a fully restored and modded Pioneer SX-780:

Here's the biz that did the restoration work:

Pretty slick.

I won’t disparage... but all I will say is that am not impressed with the rebuild. That much disassembly concerns me. To each their own.

Ugh I had a hard time watching that, mostly because it appeared that they didn't know what they were doing. Why would someone unwrap all the wrapped wires unnecessarily, for example? I know my 780 won't go through all that, when it gets a refurb.

Let’s chalk it up to learning... they bought a kit for the parts - enough said. It’s a SX-780 - so no harm messing around with that STK set. Let’s hope they don’t do the SX-1250 referenced at the end.

Am glad they like vintage = we have that in common.

Oops, sorry for the dup thread.

Andrew was in love with it. My only thought was that Andrew must listen to and evaluate equipment at lower volumes. Which if that is the case, is good actually. I just know I prefer the higher wattage receivers in the lineup because I like to listen loud. Not rattle the pictures loud, but loud enough that I can hear the difference between a receiver that puts out 45 wpc vs 100 wpc. If that makes any sense at all.

I watch a lot of his videos and he runs the full gamut of volume when testing units. He reports on sonic performance across the spectrum.

I hope that nobody follows these rebuild steps what a joke. Smoke test fails due to one capacitor installed backwards and a wire that never should have been removed installed in the wrong place. And if they used a DBT it would not have smoked lol
I quit at this point in the video.

Hello guy's
Here in Brazil we don't have that many receivers, and I found one Sx780 in mint condition.
It was stored for the last 30 years, never serviced.
This video from JustAudio gave me some indications of what I have to do with the receiver.
A long way to go, but I hope very soon, he will be ready to play.
