Anybody knows the difference in Marantz versions?

I´m going to buy a Marantz 9 and for me look likes original but I know that exits Marantz 9 chinesse version. Does anybody knows the difference between USA and chinesse or others versions?

I do not know Chinese versions of the model 9 tube amp (mono)
I do know the 1995 re issue.

The "Chinese version" is not a version of the Marantz 9 at all. It's just a Chinese tube amp that supposedly is built like a Marantz 9.

The easiest way to determine the original model 9 from the reissue is by looking at the power cord. The original model 9 has a permanently attached power cord. The reissue has a detachable IEC power cord.

I have not ever seen any Chinese versions.

The secret to the marantz mod 9 is how well they wound the transformers...the chinese have not masterd that,,,the topoligy of the amps circuit is well known,,,but it will not perform sonicly like the marantz...vac did a good job of cloneing the mod9 for its second incarnation... The chinese cant even come close..

Thanks for yours answers. I can´t buy a second amp because only one are selling here in my country but I expect to buy if it appears. The power cord is attached to the body and is built like a tank and weighted. A reissue? is possible?

I wonder if someone like Mercury Magnetics might make a similar transformer, or, in the alternative, may be willing to make a custom tranny for either a Marantz Model 8B or Model 9 power amp.
They are well known as a premier manufacturer of very high quality transformers used in vintage tube guitar amps. I've used them with very good results in both an old Fender and Trace Elliot Velocette tube amps.

Well, I buy it the Marantz 9. Incredible, but appears other amp and I buy two amps. Both needs some restoration in chassis and one needs the four tubes EL34 and paint. The two amps has the cable attached then are the first issue. Thanks to every body with your answers!!!

Both amps are in good working conditions. One of this needs the EL34 tubes.

I need the marantz cap for one amp and one amp has more corrosion.

The cords are attached to the bodies. How can I do to obtain the original colour or the better finish for the colour?

Nice score. Worth going through all the trouble. Chassis on them look to be painted over. You may be able to save the lettering if the newer paint is carefully removed.

The faceplates may still be available from VAC. Reproductions and originals appear on ePray every now and them. Ditto for the panel door and the tube cage.

The original gray painted filter caps can be recreated by re-stuffing NOS cans with modern Nichicon and Panasonic miniaturized electrolytics.

Post pictures of the units with the bottom covers removed. I may be able to give you additional pointers on what needs to be restored electrically.

Might seem that they "have ridden hard and put away wet" but they are some nice mono's. For the the right price I'd buy them and worry about performance later if all parts are there. Just my wallet thinking.

Looks like you almost have the whole system. Do you have a 10 or a 10b? From my understanding there were only 100 10s produced.

All you need now is a SLT12 or 12U and for a Marantz speaker, a set of DQ10s since Saul while with Marantz had no speakers associated with the company but, he is associated with the DQ10 after leaving.

I was always a bit surprised he, Sid and Dick did not do something together after they left the company. They and the others who made up the team were a special lot.

Yes, I own an original Model 10. Serial No. 35.

An SLT12 would be a nice addition.

For speakers, I would like to try a pair of KLH Nines. If I ever have the space for them. For now the little BBC monitors suffice. Very musical little marvels.

I agree about Saul, Sid and Sequerra. Magical combination of unique talents. Never to be repeated again...
