AR 2-A SCORE and questions...

I'm really glad i swapped the pots... it wont need gutted to clean pots anytime soon.... they were a very reasonable upgrade in my opinion.. if that scared value off of speakers that were intended to be listened to i dont see why...


if i lowered the value of my AR2a's by adding those then so be it... if i were buying them i would be glad that all those repairs are documented.... no idea what these might be worth in case i ever decided to sell them....
 
I recently sold a gorgeous pair for 200.00. Recapped, pots cleaned though one was still spotty, resealed surrounds.
Prices are all over the place with them, not as consistent as 3's or 3a's.

i think you will find these to be in pretty good condition !... glad we could help each other out. i will let you know when i get the sealer for the woofer surrounds from you

thank you glenn that is helpful.... is it fair to say that these AR2a's i own are 1963 or prior? they have the gold threaded cloth, oil can caps... and no date markings at all... i cant even make out the serial numbers on them... i wonder if they have serial numbers at all .... i cant tell...
 
i just told my neighbor that i had been restoring speakers and i was sorry if "my testing" had been a little bit annoying loud lately..... she replied "well at least your music doesnt suck!" lololololol :jump:

My 3's are 1960 with the oil caps. I don't remember what year the 2A's started production.
Go to the classic speaker pages forum. Tons of info on AR's.

Going out today USPS. Enclosed a flux brush for application.
Two things to remember here, be certain to be thorough in your coating but also keep it as thin as possible.
 
sad day for sports fans... a forum member mailed me a thumbscrew i was missing and the envelope arrived like this without the thumbscrew in it :bs::(

thanks man! im anxiously awaiting it... do i just seal the woofer surrounds? is it that simple? a thin but thorough airtight layer correct?
 
Well.... I do have another thumbscrew. I didn't really think I'd have to bombproof an item like that. Must have went through a sorting machine of some kind. Wonder if it jammed it up? :confused: I'll get one through to you. I'll send it out Saturday and it will be USPS proof! :thumbsup:

i wasnt even gonna bug you about it ... im ticked at the post office though... the very last time i was to receive a package... they gave it to a neighbor three roads over with the same house number but totally wrong street. smh. facepalm.
