Are Chinese fuses safe?

Hopefully the Chinese fuses are more reliable than the Chinese hair dryers, irons, thermostats and various harware I replace at my hotel on a fairly regular basis!!

Counterfeit fuse? I think they have much better things to counterfeit than a simple cheap fuse. I never buy transistors and capacitors on ebay, but I would not worry about buying fuse for amps on ebay. You can literally eye-ball and tell the size of the fuse already!!!!
.

So what your saying is.. those of us active technicians in the field that are getting the fuses, involved in active investigations about it and just passing along factual info to fellow gear heads need to put down the crank pipe?

Cheers :beerchug:

While people are very cautious about fake transistors but apparently less about fuses, it may be noted that the average fuse may be as expensive as the average transistor?

It’s not just fuses we are getting, pretty much all components as well as complete assemblies.

Considering the number of people who ignore basic scientific principles, basic safety protocols, investigatory work by accredited agencys regarding safety issues etc etc,it never ceases to amaze me how many of these idiots have survived and continue to post in these forums.......

Oh,and ANY REFERENCE WHATSOEVER (even implied) to nationality gets you an automatic branding as a racist:rolleyes:

Good grief.......Stupidity and soapboxes,what a combination.

I ONLY talk about from the original post that the fuse for amps. There is so many applications I can never cover the whole thing and it is ridiculous to put it in one sweep of the pen. Lighten up!!!

For people that do service, you want to cover your A$$, use more expensive one, again, the subject is for a user asking the question. Any qualify tech should be able to eye ball and tell within 2A the fuse rating.

BTW, fuse for house? I thought they did away with this eons ago!!!! They are all circuit breakers that I know of since the 60s. If one's house is still using fuse, might that be more appropriated to change the fuse box into a breaker box if you worry about danger?

Don’t need to lighten up, most of us are just some random person on the interwebs. I don’t take anything on here that serious for that reason!! :bigok: :beerchug:

Yep I just finished my OSHA 10 hr class required every 5 years to work in Shipyards. OSHA is one of the worst things for Darwinism! Our gene pool is very compromised.

And hey, your from Canada so say your sorry , Ah

So in your view everyone should have a qualified "tech" eyeball fuses instead of trusting the ratings printed or stamped on the case?

Great idea! It makes so much sense!

Yes, we should have all components eyeballed instead of being purchased through a trustable supply chain. It's all so simple! We could save BILLIONS of dollars AND employ people eyeballing components as they come in! Brilliant! So much better than using trusted manufacturers instead of vendors who falsify manifests and instead use counterfeits made by fly-by-night suppliers. We won't need testing or QA anymore. We'll just eyeball everything!

Yes, all of the rating services are therefore working a scam! How could we have been so blind! We've been robbed, robbed I say!

Except that I am unfamiliar with the ISO 9001 specification which covers the auditing process for such "eyeballing". Can you give me the page number? Because I definitely was sleeping in class that day...

BTW: Do you even know what is involved in certifying components or equipment? The list of prohibited practices alone would make your head explode, just like in Scanners.

Check what batch run of Kobe steel they used!
Perceived cheapness is not limited to mass produced Chinese QC standards anymore..
"Made in Japan" on the label might not mean what it once did anymore either.
From what I read and keep up with anyway

Again, I am talking about for amplifiers

Do you even use common sense? Every fuse comes with a label, you eye ball and can tell whether it is in range? Do you even know electronics and work with electronics or you just talk about standard?

You buy the fuse( yes cheap) for none critical use.......like for a simple amp, read the label, eye ball the fuse to make sure it's ok and use it.

OP ask a simple question for amp, you make a mountain out of a mole hill. Talk about worst case to confuse the OP. This is an amp!!!!

Almost duded you,

Alan, I think your are totally missing the point. I follow other threads your in for the same reason you are in them, to learn, and you miss the point in those sometimes.

Tubes like high efficiency speakers :beatnik:

Again, I'm talking about burning down your house with you inside.

You can tell the composition and properties of a piece of wire merely by looking at it? That is amazing! How did you learn how to do this? Everyone else needs expensive machinery. But you? Amazing!

The fuse protects against fire.

An amplifier can burn your house down just as effectively as a toaster.

Actually, the toaster is UL rated, whereas your amplifier is burn-the-house-down rated. So the toaster is likely safer than anything you build.
