Available locally, about 50 mile drive, which I don't mind. I'm not an Advent expert, but trying a pair would be fun. Don't know if refoam is needed, I can do it if so. Thoughts?
Are these OLA's? Worth $75?

I have a pair of OLAs that I pulled out of a local thrift a while back (yours look like Utility Cabinets, like mine...). They definitely needed a refoam. If they have the masonite woofer surrounds, you'll have mount the foam inverted. That's what I had to do. Very easy - there's a video online showing how to do it painlessly.

As said, if the original woofers are there and good, they will need foam, it’s worth it to try them. Assuming the tweets are good too.

Thanks to all for the info. Are these likely to have velcro holding the grills? One pic online showed that, but maybe it was added later. I'd like to see the drivers.

Should be velcro, yes.
OLA are an experience for the vintage enthusiast. So many folks started out finding a pair on the cheap and then moving along into all sorts of other fun gear. If you foam and recap them, it'll cost you $30-40 (maybe less) and your time. Foam is most of it and prices are varied. Once completed these speakers can be anything from a shop utility speaker on up to a daily driver on the main stage, all depending on what the owner desires.
OLA utility cab, recapped and refoamed, should carry $125 and up depending on condition and local market factors. You shouldn't lose anything on them as a fun project unless your hobby comes with a self imposed, high dollar, hourly rate. If that's the case, there may not be a whole lot of bargains to be found anywhere. But price your own time at about $4.50/hr and there are bargains a-plenty

As another point of reference in my neighborhood, I sold my Advent /1 for $150. They were recapped and refoamed. The cabinet was in good shape - untouched by me other than to wipe it down. I sold a crap bullnose NLA for $100, but the woofers had been "repaired" to something non-original.

And a pair of good condition as shipped Advent OLA with veneer would sell here in about a week for $250 on craigs.
My first pair of Advents was a set of NLA in walnut with newish foam, great condition. I paid $150 and never regretted it. I later sold them for more.
My second pair were the OLA in walnut with new foam and in gorgeous shape. I paid $40 and still have them.
I think I had a pair of utility ones once too. In the garage waiting project time is a later set of 5002. I can't remember how much they cost. One of these days they'll see light.

My favorite Advents. I know they are after the buyout (and some people slag them for that), but the original style woofer paired with a (IMHO) far superior dome tweeter makes them wonderful performers. I used them for a while then flipped them to a member here when I found my Hereseys. AFAIK he is still rocking them.
