Ariston RD 11s - Gratis! What should I do?

I agree on the nuts. Yes I replaced the original springs and grommets with new Linn ones, which others have said was worthwhile. Sound is excellent but delicate as suspension is all wrong. I'll look at it this weekend again if I have time - Christmas eating all my spare opportunities! Thanks again.

I would stick to the original springs and nuts and bolts . If the Linn springs are noticeably stiffer , not only will you have the problem of lowering the subchassis enough for the belt to stay on the drive rim...but the actual suspension as a whole may not work as intended..i.e as a mechanical filter for external vibrations. Three point suspendeds tends to work best around the 4-5 hz bounce ,if i remember correctly, after which the entire sprung mass should come to a complete rest within a couple of seconds. If the whole thing is still bouncing around 5 +seconds later after a mild disturbance...the suspension is not working as intended.

If you want to see what's going on put the main platter on upside down ( and mat ) and set the TT spinning.
You will have a clear view of the belt riding down to the bottom and then off. Your whole chassis is set too high.
You either need longer bolts , or softer springs. The arm mounting board should be flush with the top plate..

Good advice but the OP hasn’t been on this thread since 2017 :dunno:
