Audiogon fails to impress

I thought the old version was fine. I never had any problems with it.

Agreed. Who cares if it looked "old" -- it actually worked, and seemed to do so reliably. Even if they fix the speed problems, logon issues, search issues, etc, of the new site then there's still the antiseptic, boring feel to get past.

It's offline for maintenance - my God it hurt my eyes to look at it !!!!!!!!!!

REALLY BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They obviously have a major issue if the site is still down.

I wonder if they tried to roll back to the old version, and that caused even more issues. I have seen that before.

Audiogon. Wish that it had one throat that could slit it.

It is a great site to buy/sell non-CL, dumpster bound crap. For the most part, items are usually accurate in their descriptions and most sellers are honest. Now what is it that you despise? The cost? Hi-end gear? :scratch2:

You wouldn't believe the amount of gear that goes through that site.

Yeah that I do not doubt, but that wasn't what I meant. I meant that I doubted that Audiogon actually had that many employees/staff. But it was just a conjecture.

Not news to everyone but I'm actually surprised to see its still down at 9:47am PT. Must be one hell of a mess. Or punishment by the owners as I understand there very dictator like.

What's the old saying about keep it simple that Audiogon forgot? The prior foremat was fine and fairly easy to navigate. Looks to me Audiogon is going to pay for this dumb move in potential lost sales, listings and pissed off members.

Pizza boxes must be piling up!

This really could go on for as long as SNL spoofed Generalíssimo Francisco Franco's death.

In the end it will be fixed and we'll probably forget all about this in a month. Anything new takes time, but it gets hard when people push out a product in its beta stage and it's not even close to where it's supposed to be. Baffles me - you would think they would roll it out when it worked.

Also what is interesting is that they decided to wait until after the holidays to launch it - as they claimed that it was because of the feedback they got from users who wanted it that way. Now it is quite obvious the site was not even close to being finished before the holidays, and had nothing to due with feedback.

In the end it's their loss as people who have stuff up there are losing business and will look for other venues. It's also messing with peoples incomes during hard times as lots of people make their living from that site.

At least it appears they're acknowledging issues and requests. From the blog:

"If you’re not happy with the search options: We’re getting a lot of great feedback around how we can make search better and will be improving it over then next few weeks as well as getting the most requested feature which is search by zip code radius."

They also acknowledged the slow issues. Maybe they just launched it prematurely. I still say there was nothing wrong with it the way it was, but I only used it occasionally.

I for one like the new interface better. For one thing the way photographs are handled is much better. Click on a picture and it opens an applet where you easily scroll through pictures (like Ebay). The old way it would open a whole new browser page for each picture which was archaic. I dissagree that it looks worse also, I think it looks cleaner and more contemporary. I always have been the odd man out though. :para:
