What you don't see are the security issues and the amount of work done behind the scenes to keep AK running without tons of spammers.

No. Tapatalk support is a plugin to the forum software that runs on the server; not to mention the database will be down.

Chat will also be down; even for the direct back-door link. The applet will load but it won't have a database to authenticate with.

I surf AK all the time with just a regular ol' browser on my tablet, what does Tapatalk offer other than a sig that lets people know you posted via Tapatalk?

Tapatalk offers a easier interface than trying to use the site on a mobile browser; which is not that easy on some devices. I for a while wondered why bother when there's a browser on the phone; but the app makes using the forums a lot less clunky. You get a better threaded view of discussions as well as system alerts if there's a thread you're wanting to follow.

Kidding aside, just this morning I had so severe problems with this website again, and only this website, everything else on my computer was and is fine. I had this calamity repeatedly in the last days and weeks. Perhaps an update of AK will mean a change for a better.
