Best-Looking Knobs

My Favorite: Audio Research (SP-6 to SP-15 era).
Honorable Mention: Cello Audio Pallette
Eccentric Favorite: Advent 300/Tivoli Audio Tuner Dial

One of my favorites too. For those who don't have/never tried one, there is reduction gearing (or the like) between the black knob and the annular silver indicator apron. It's something like 3.5 to 4 full revolutions of the black knob to get from one end of the dial to the other. And still a very nice precision feel, 40 years later, even if the tuning LEDs drift...

Can't see how we made it this far without these two........

Just love the intricate detail of the solid knobs from a Harman Kardon 330a.

In contrast to the solid aluminum "flippers" from the Yamaha x20 series.

Interesting! They look identical to the ones on my JBL 660. Note that some of them are ganged.
They feel a bit 'sharp' to the fingers, but provide a great sense of grip and position.

JVC had their own version of "flywheel" tuning, on their "Knobless" designs.

It was, of course, a huge knob cleverly laying down on the job, cut at a taper so that the knob, while not entirely horizontal, had a "flat" front. Lightly textured. Flickable with one finger from 88 to 108. Everything else was controlled with sliders or pushbuttons.

Sometimes the past is better left in the past. lol

Back on topic, I always like the smooth black with silver bevel like on this cheap amp.
