Best speaker score under $100

All my speakers were free, read trash finds, to 100. The LST-2's are the most I've paid, 150.00 CL listing. All needed various levels of restorations except the JBL 4301b's and AR-4x's. I love this hobby!

Snell EIII's, they were offered as perfect for 150 bucks and I was going to grab them.

Got there and the owner had never removed the grilles and of course they needed a refoam. I got them for 60 bucks. But I did have to replace the tweeters in addition to the refoam. Came out total of about 140 bucks, I'm happy.

Most of my mountain of speakers where under $100. The free ones where
1) Large Advent
2) Advent Heritage (along with free Sansui 2000x receiver)
3) DCM Time Windows
4) Boston Acoustics A200

Except for the Bostons, they where all in rough shape cosmetically. The Bostons and Large Advents needed foams.

The biggest free score I missed out on were a pair of "Large Polk Speakers". By the pictures, they where probably SDA-1's.

Most notable speakers I purchased where probably the pair of rough condition JBL L65's from a thrift store for $10. They needed new foams but otherwise work great!

It's tough to find good speakers for less then $100.

Neither are worth a lot but to me they sound better
than many far more valuable speakers I've had over
the years.

Both are keepers and still in my systems.

Pioneer DSS-9's for $80
DCM TF-700's for $90

Kenwood LS-408A's - $8
Cerwin Vega 211R's - Free
Cerwin Vega DX-1's - $4
Advent Prodigy's - $20
EPI 150's - $25

Of all of them, my favorite pair is the CV 211R's. Very early CV's and they sound fantastic.

ADS L-710: $20
JBL L-100: $20
Technics SB-L200: $15
DCM TF600: $15

I almost forgot; Spica SC-50: $2

back in january i scored a pair of polk rt-400's for $90 from CL. maybe not the most jaw-dropping deal on here, but i'm very happy with this deal. i'm driving them with a pioneer sx-450 that really warms them up. :tresbon:

100 is way too high to be the upper limit for speaker prices folks have gotten with all the Free mentioned.

And with all these inexpensive acquisitions why are some of the prices in BT so over the top?

Since this is BEST speaker score under 100, I'll only mention 1 pair of speakers of the many I have gotten for free, a pair of Beveridge Model 2 complete with the stock amplifiers. Replacement tube needed supplied by a friendly AKer.

OK I have totaled the speakers I can remember that I have gotten for less than a c-note. About 75 or so. Subs can make the total an odd number. Don't know why a list of these would help this thread.
