Sansui vs Luxman

how is the Luxman gear viewed by most people? Is Luxman similar to say, Pioneer or Marantz or JVC? I have a Luxman R-3055 receiver and while it looks nice.. it's no silver Pioneer of similar age or build quality.

One piece of similar build quality I have compared side by side to the Luxman was a Sansui 9090db.To my ears they were very similar. If I had to give the edge to one it would probably be the Luxman.Perhaps because of the extra 30 or so wpc? That is saying alot because to me the Sansui is one great sounding unit.Just my opinion.

Excellent observation, I agree with your comparison. The Luxman makes 160 wpc. The Luxman has some crazy headroom number that I don't think the 9090DB can match.
