Fantastic image!

Thank you sir!

Leaving the wildlife refuge a few weeks ago I drove past this Cedar Waxwing perched right by the road, who waited patiently as I slammed on the brakes, reversed back to where he was, retrieved the camera from the back seat, and snapped him through the open passenger side window.

Probably mom with this year's two nestlings.

Saw these on my morning walk. Goldfinch, and juvy Bald Eagle mixing it up with a couple of the resident Osprey. Osprey aren't exactly small, so I think these show pretty well just how large a Bald Eagle actually is.

Nothing especially exotic yesterday afternoon, but still nice, nonetheless. Male Belted Kingfisher, Dark Eyed Junco, and first of year (pretty late this year) Green heron.

[GuyK]

Downy woodpecker, and 3rd and 4th Green herons of the year. Also saw the 2nd Green Heron, but from about 70 yards and the photos are meh.

A modest crop of a juvenile Osprey, then a deep crop of the same image.

hen a deep crop of the same image.

A magpie I caught the other day.

"What are you looking at, you hockey puck?"

If Steller's jays spoke English, one might very well say something like that. They are among the most vulgar birds I've ever been chewed out by. Really. Their language is bluer than a sailor's, and I love them for it.

Got to spend a little time with this Kestrel as he was kiting near the Corte Madera Creek

Saw a not-too common Northern Flicker the other day. This one's a male, and is an intergrade - a Red Shafted x Yellow Shafted hybrid. Yellow shafted males have a red crescent on their nape as here, but have a black mustache. Red Shafteds have a red mustache as here, but no marks at the nape.

We have sh*t load of those around here in North Bend. They drive me crazy pecking away on the house until I go out and shoo them away.

Awhile back I scanned a peacock feather at 1200 dpi, 10183 x 13183 pixels.
This is a detail view at 1500 x 990 pixels.
