I'm not a big bose fan, however the 601 series was probably one of the best of the bose speaker line. They are very dependent on positioning because of the tweeter angles, but they actually sound nice with the right material. THeir only drawback is getting the grills off to refoam them.

Trust your ears on this one.

Surprisingly good bass for such a small cabinet. As jpdylan mentioned, the highs are very dependent of location in the room. I had a pair placed against the rear wall, but with bookshelves that broke up the rear reflection and made the highs seem muted. Eventually I placed a sheet of plywood behind each one and presto- the highs just about doubled. Unfortunately, the plywood didn't look very good.

The final version of them (Ver. III) was the best. The sidewalls of the cabinet no longer obstructed the tweeters (open on all sides on the top) and the grilles were easily removed. Decware has foam and replacement drivers for them (or at least, used to).
