I used to have a pair of really cheap Emerson speakers that I used as test speakers. They just had a single 5" driver in each cabinet. At some point, I had a 901 EQ in a system that was connected to them and it actually made them sound half decent.

The EQ is an active EQ, not a crossover, to the best of my knowledge, and not like one in any way.
