Brasil 2014

Is that stereotyping, profiling or just plain racism?.....:scratch2:

If it is, it has no place in this discussion....... It is the World Cup after alll..

Wow!! Talk about exaggerating!!!
It's fact!.. Look at that sent off players past record.. loadsa red and yellow cards.

Is anyone else with me. I've always thought the world cup final should be the only football game not ever decided under the penalty kick format. Let it be a war of attrition for however long it takes. the whole world can stop for this greatest sporting event on earth.

You are insinuating in public that Daunia70 is probably a racist. You are walking on very thin ice, Sir. I think I should inform a moderator about your comment.

I didn't know that...
what with the European "fanimals" and the alcohol ban in Brazil stadiums.

You know the old joke: "I went to a fight and a Hockey game broke out."

Me neither, I just read it on the news the other day.

* I went to a gun fight with a knife. :scratch2:

I'm in. :tresbon:

A few of the Portuguese players have always tended to be ill tempered and/or prone to play acting/cheating. This time it's back fired on 'em in a big way.. Well done Germany!

GlobalWarming, it's a simple opinion and valid (Daunia's quote). We all know that soccer is a theater at times, and that the referees don't have eyes behind their head, and that all humans are more or less tempered at times.

So it is not what you assumed, and consequently 'perfecto' in our discussion. :)

...Nothing, nothing at all. ...Only a fabrication in your own mind, not the reality. ...Agree? ...I thought so too. :tresbon:

That was an excellent game; the Germans made some great moves. ...And goals. ...Congrats!

OK, folks, lets drop the discussion of stereotyping and racism and focus on the topic at hand. Oh, yeah, and don't post anything that's racist or stereotypes a nation.

I heard that 2 million tweets in America commented the match USA vs. Ghana - that is a lot of attention in a country where traditionally Soccer/football is of rather minor interest. This is great! The American team is a good one and no other team should underestimate the US boys...

End of match, Netherlands 3 - Australia 2
Australia now very doubtful to advance, and it's too bad, they are a much better team than some who will eventually advance.
Netherlands advance 1st in group B
Robben and Persie again leading the way with a goal a piece, with the other one going to Depay

Excellent match by both teams.:thmbsp:

Come on chilie ! I always support the underdog, thats what comes of being a man city supporter through thin and thinner.

Gutted for the aussies but they did show the dutch are really not so great, the spain result was a bit of a freak but i suppose we will know more about spain after this one......

Er, that would be chile of course ! :scratch2:

That was a close call for Holland. Van Gaals has some work to do. Shame about the Ozzies, they did well against Chile and kept Holland under pressure. A little more experience and who knows where they might end next time...
On a more serious note: it looks like Bruno Martins-Indi, the defender who got hit by Tim Cahill, has a concussion, so his worldcup is over.

Second match of the day, and we have again a representative from Canada, the first one being Jonathan De Guzman on the Dutch team, and Joe Fletcher an assistant referee selected to work this match. Hopefully the whole referee crew does well so they will have a chance to advance in other matches.

I've more faith in Chile than Spain, and with only a draw, Chile should advance.

OK, folks, once a moderator (like me) asks people to move on and get back on topic, that's what should happen. I don't want to close this thread or delete more posts, so let's keep it to soccer (sorry, football :) )
