Wow, what an incredible thread! I just had to sign up to see all the wonderful pics since I too am a Yamaha nut.
Currently my list of Yamaha gear is:

CX-1000
MX-1000
TX-1000u
KX-1200

I'm looking for a CDX-1120 , 1110 or 1100 to complete the system.
 
Welcome Jdubya, impressive list you have there. Now grab the camera, it is the "post you're pic's" thread :)

You also need a Mini Disk and a TT to compleate the system :D

You're absolutely right, this is the "post your pics" thread, so I'll give it a try.
Pardon the dirt and fingerprints, one of the system's real home is undergoing a remodel at the moment and the other stuff has been a bit neglected in the fitness room.

Missing in the pics are the M-40 and the CDC-91 which are serving kitchen duty and the 1000M's are being shipped to me as we speak. The cabs are banged up a bit so I plan on resurfacing them. Can't decide what I'm going to do for the finish, though.

As for "completing the system", I can't say I've ever owned a single mini-disk, but a PF-1000 would compliment the rest of the 1000 series stuff nicely, even though I don't own much vinyl. Of course, I don't own many cassettes either.
As I said, though, right now I'm in the hunt for a CDX-1120 or similar.

I sold a beautiful specimen on eBay about five years ago. It was 100% and fetched a very satisfactory price. It went, iirc, to a Yamaha aficionado who already owned one of the decks.

Sound-wise it was fine but nothing that would make me give up my Naks.
 
I'd give that amp some more breathing room..:yes: Allowing Sylvester to lay on the equipment will eventually fill the amp full of cat hair and lead to and early breakdown..
 
Trust me, the cat isn't allowed to lay on the equipment. :nono: He just hopped in there when he heard the cd changer shuffling and I took the pic immediately after.

The amp, along with the other components, normally sit on an open shelf type of rack. I'm in the process of remodeling my listening space so I temporarily set it up in this cabinet so I could listen to the new-to-me 1000m's. There is a 10" fan behind the amp for cooling because I too was concerned about heat in this tight set up but I think it'll be okay. I've been periodically checking the temp by putting my hand on the top of the amp and it is barely warm after several hours of listening.:music:

I love 'em! :thmbsp: I can't stop listening to them. I need to find some good stands, though, as these are the first "bookshelf" speakers I've had with the exception of a pair of NS-10's used in a recording studio setting only. I'm still messing with placement, but am not going to get too carried away since they aren't in their proper room yet.
I read in the owners manual, and elsewhere, that backing them up tight against the wall is the way to go, but have seen numerous pics where people had them out a bit with some toe-in. Where they're located at the moment, I can't have them out from the wall due to space, but will try it once they are where they're going to stay.
Where have you found the best placement to be?

As you know, these are very accurate speakers, just the way I like them, and the Be mids and tweets are absolutely unbelievable. :music:

I started another post in the speaker section about the damage suffered from shipping, but fortunately it isn't affecting the sound.

I see we're distant neighbors..... I'm in Omaha.

The one I owned then sold was an 800D with a vintage of 1978 or '79. Performance was more than acceptable but nothing special. It was cosmetics and ergonomics that set it apart from most of the competition. I can see why collectors prize it for it was, and remains, a unique machine.

Nice rack, the Standesign I mean (the equipment is great also). I used to sell those and still have my 2 level TT stand and 5 level rack. Love the central supports that make gear and wiring easy to get at and move around. Classy product. Wonder what happened to them?
