Here is my only yamaha piece. The good old ddp-1

Had a NOS pair of these 3-4 years ago. Don't recall if they are bridgeable, but do agree that they are about as good looking a piece of gear as has ever been made. However, they are 'bright' sounding to my ears. Of the two folks who purchased them from me, one sold within a year and the other still uses as the amp in his main rig. As always, different strokes for different ears. The Yamaha MX-2000 is(to me)the Grace Kelly of the amplifier world.Visually extremely aesthetically pleasing.
That it is posessed of good sound quality, also, makes it an amp I'd love to hear.
Thats and issue with one of them---Meters inop. The other is in protect mode
haven't had time to do a preliminary check but I suspect a broken connection.(shipping mishandling)
Initial look-see reveiled a vented cap on the input board. 1000uf@80vdc spewd electrolyte all over the board. Also found about 8 - 10 resistors burnt wide open and a shorted TO-92 transistor.Disabled the right channel (where all the damage is) and the amp comes out of protection. Oh boy!! Not a shipping issue..
Not really much to see.
1st pix -red line points to the cap thats slightly bulged on top and has a small split on the top of the cap where it sprayed the entire board.Hard to see in the photo.
2nd pix- green lines point to the burnt resistors and yellow line to the shorted transistor.
3rd pix green lines point to a few more burnt open resistors. The caps in this photo are Rubicon Blackgates(black ones) and Elna (Duorex) purple jobs.
Not really much to see.
Now here I do my stuff and mind my own business and what do I get? Someone dumps an old piece of vintage amp right on top of my fancy pansy stuff, life isn't fair - but it did make me feel right at home![]()
I love the 40Kw power distribution device. :thmbsp:
Isn't that what's needed to run a PC5002M?
