Calling All Yamahas. Time to Post Your Pics

A semi new guy here and I found myself wondering, hmmm what is this MX 10000 they are all talking about? I found this website which probably most of you have seen but maybe of interest to a few. After reading it I had to wipe all the drool off my keyboard. What a privledge to be the owner of some of those components. Here's the link to the web page.

Well.....its over. The once and future king remains. The B-2. Simply sounds more musical. Do wish it were the looker that the MX-2000 is, though. Anyone want a 99+ MX-2000? It sure is purty. And, at 61+ pounds, it actually out-weighs the 57+ pound B-2. Just not quite up to the B-2 in sonics. Oh, those VFETs. They simply have the best sound. Can't beat 'em. Maybe I'll just remove the bulbs from the B-2 meters and tell people it is the MX-2000 playing. :D While a very nice sound, the MX-2000 is like everything else I've tried in the past few years. Simply not up to B-2 standards for sound. Guess it is time to find a B-2x. Think it is one of the last Yamaha amps I've not listened to against the B-2. And, a B-1 & MX-D1, of course.

In all your posts regarding the amps you compared to the B-2 I see very little mentioned about the BX-1 amps.

Trust me, they are ultimate, worth all the drool on your KB, ask Mark B. the de facto Yamaha man.

I am not so sure about that, I also see a price saying B-2x: 3.600 DM ($2.769), B-1: 4.600 DM ($3.538).
DM = Deutsch Mark, the German currency until they translated into Euro.
Add in the inflation between when the two were offered and the price difference will be even more. What was the MRSP of the MX-2000?

Someone help me refresh my memory...

An AKer won a Yamaha switcher/selector that was on ebay...sometime ago. It was used in a stereo shop.

I thought there used to be an AK post with pics and info and I don't recall ever checking back to see what the end result in use of it was...curious I am.

Was it an MVS-1, which is a master volume/selector unit? Is sort of a Yamaha version of the passive preamp.

It was supposed to be use together with the DSP-1, that way you controlled the volume on all channels (M-35 4 channel and a stereo M- series amp) first kind of surround sound.

ExJxC: the CDX-1030 was also $700 in the US, in Europe i see a 750€ price.

I now understand why Yamaha sold the CDX-1120 along side the CDX-1030. Having a CDX-920, 1120, and 1030 size by side I don't think Yamaha ever intended the 1030 to be a replacment for the 1120. The build quality on the 1030 looks much better then the 920 and my mint 1030 will be hanging around.

It was the post P. Shivers mentioned, it was SoCal Sam, I thought it was but couldn't quite remember. I posted in that year old thread for an update from Sam.

It's a YSU-3 stereo switching unit.

Interesting, yes.

Are any of the modern Yamaha CD players/DVD players worthy?
Do they even sell a single disc _CD_ player anymore? Last I saw it was 5 disc CD or DVD anymore.

I see several offered and although I really want an older boat anchor model, I'm open to the possibility that some of their newer gear is still quality, albeit a little lighter.

Whoops - here we go again - swapped the 1020 for a CR-2040
cleaned the pots with Caig and it sounds sweet, tho it needs a few of those twist in green lamps ... and a lighter veneer (sounds like a learning experience - where's that router!)
Cranked Fleetwood Mac (Rattlesnake Shake), 2nd Santana Album, Yes, Aja, and a few other things (Ornette Coleman, of course) - very nice sounds!

Now I guess I'll be selling the CR-1020 - plays great, cabinet is near perfect,
I just wanted a few more watts and features.
