Cannabis and weight loss

So there is this guy I know who has lost almost 30lbs. since he started partaking as a sleep aide about 2 years ago. He went from 183 to 155. This is the only known change in lifestyle. Other than the weight loss he is in near perfect health other than this weight loss. He realizes there could be some other underlying condition but assuming there is not - has anyone else experienced anything like this. Please don't site any internet "study". I'd like first hand personal experiences only so I can report back to my friend. BTW this guy has had 20 different blood parameters tested and all indicate he is a perfect specimen of a man. BTW- he does have a upper and lower GI tract inspection scheduled just to rule out something hiding.

Weed = weight loss anybody?

I've been using THC as a sleep aid for six years regularly. About 5mg/night. I do not think I've lost any weight due to that use. I am a pretty steady 118#, which I chalk up to my Keto/carnivore diet. I know a few others who use it regularly, and I have never heard them talk about weight loss. It sounds like a prudent move for your friend to get a checkup.

First why no internet info? Ewes asking for medical info on a Stereo Geek site.

To the questions, munchies usually cause weight gain so he may want to get that checked out.
Why because all the studies I’ve seen are either by cannabis groups. Half the sites on the majority of any subject is just parrot of each other.? I have never seen anything by a legitimate medical site. If you have some in mind, let’s give it a try….

Chief-

Secondly, why do you have to disrespect me for asking a question here of my peers who I respect far far more than the vast majority of agenda seeking sites?
It was a curiosity for the reason in my question. Simple as that.

I even gave my experienced 2 cents worth to the question. I make gummies and they help with all the old man old sports injury pains while sleeping. They give me the munchies, I am not losing weight, if I gave into the munchies I would be gaining.

By the way, guys, my friend is not suggesting that this is a universal effect of cannabis, because we all know our bodies aren’t all exactly the same.

About 30 years ago, I had a girlfriend that was in remission from Hodgkin's disease (a form of lymph node cancer IIRC).
Previous to that, she was a bit of a pot head anyway, but the doctors advised her to continue as the chemo and the area of the disease caused her to have no appetite and occasionally for eating to be painful.

I found that quite interesting. Pretty cool for a then 20 year old to be that up front with her doctors and for them to be open to the idea.

She was a bit of a waif- IIRC about 5'6" and about 100#, but it was kind of a "model skinny" with good proportions.
However, a few weeks of not eating regularly and she could get a bit bony.

So- no, personal experience suggests a potential weight gain.

I use it at night for music and sleep. Have never lost weight from it.

weed does not give you the munchies.

you are just hungry. the weed causes you to say "i got the munchies" instead of "i'm hungry"
Sorry total BS, it's an appetite stimulant. THC can make food taste better and trick your brain into thinking you're hungry, even if you've recently eaten.

I seen many patients come in with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS).
That's because your in the medical field and that's where people who are sick show up. It's rare and only occurs in daily long-term users of marijuana. Been smoking pot for 56 years and for a couple of years smoked a bag/ounce a week by myself as did a lot of friends and never once did I see or anyone I knew complain about puking after smoking.
