Cannabis and weight loss

Yeah, some people actually did lose weight after they started using cannabis for sleep. Maybe it’s from better rest, or maybe their body just reacts differently. It might be a good idea to check with a specialist from a clinic that deals with this – Cannaray has some solid CBD reviews, might help you get a clearer picture.

Sleep, music and appetite is what I use it for. Was looking at losing weight and have been dropping weight as my appetite isn't what it was. Hit 169 a couple of days ago. Looking to stop at at 165. At one time was at 225

Adding my experience here since I went through something very similar. I started medical cannabis treatment after a burnout, and in the first few months I lost over 10 kg without any effort. At first I thought something was wrong, but my tests came back perfectly normal. After a consultation with the team at Leafy DOC, I learned that THC and CBD can affect appetite and cortisol levels. They also helped me choose a formula that didn’t completely kill my appetite. My weight has since stabilized.

Weight Loss = eat fewer calories, exercise more. That’s it. I eat a Mediterranean diet and “eat the rainbow” with lots of deeply colored fruits and vegetables and protein from plants, chicken, and fish mostly. The occasional ribeye. :)

Well- it's been a year and my weight has stayed at 155 down from 185. The doctors ran a few dozen tests and found no reason for weight loss. I never mentioned the cannabis to them. So since they didn't find anything my conclusion is, it is the cannabis at least in this situation.

That's good, but what about your friend?

So there is this guy I know who has lost almost 30lbs. since he started partaking as a sleep aide about 2 years ago. He went from 183 to 155. This is the only known change in lifestyle. Other than the weight loss he is in near perfect health other than this weight loss. He realizes there could be some other underlying condition but assuming there is not - has anyone else experienced anything like this. Please don't site any internet "study". I'd like first hand personal experiences only so I can report back to my friend. BTW this guy has had 20 different blood parameters tested and all indicate he is a perfect specimen of a man. BTW- he does have a upper and lower GI tract inspection scheduled just to rule out something hiding.

Weed = weight loss anybody?
Dead thread from 2024, but leaving this for anyone searching. Dropped 15lbs last year. Joint pain stopped, so I moved more. Managing the munchies is the only hurdle. Switched to a flower stick to lock in the exact dose. Hits the pain, skips the hunger spikes. Stopped wasting time guessing with random edibles.

Adding my experience in case someone finds it later.

I did not notice weight changes from cannabis itself. What helped me keep weight off was cutting sugary drinks, not the flower. I stopped iced coffee with sugar and dropped 5kg in five weeks.

During a rough medical treatment, cannabis made a huge difference for me. The first two weeks without it were hell. Pain, nausea, no appetite. Once I started using it again, those side effects almost vanished. My doctor was surprised at how well I handled the rest of the treatment.

I get my prescription through Releaf in the UK. The oils help with pain and nausea without making me feel high. No weight gain, no weight loss. Just better quality of life during treatment.

I think anyone who claims cannabis helps weight loss is probably experiencing something else. Medical marijuana is not prescribed as a primary medication for weight loss and is not FDA-approved for that purpose. One of the oldest medically-approved uses of cannabis is to achieve the opposite. To increase appetite so you can gain weight. Especially for people on chemo and other medical conditions that reduce appetite and cause weight loss.

For every person who claims cannabis helps them lose weight, there are literally millions who see the opposite effect, and there are many years of research and solid medical data to back that.

Another thing I read in this thread was it helps "burnout". One might think that would be absurd too but in reality it isn't and there is some medical data showing that it can help reduce burnout from chronic stress, anxiety, and insomnia. I had to look that up because I found it hard to believe. I mean, when you think of the term "burn-out" a big thing that comes to mind is a spaced-out stoner locked in their LaZboy recliner with zero energy and motivation. But you learn new stuff every day.

I think you will find that there will always be people who think cannabis can cure every ailment in the world but if it does benefit them, a lot of the time it has caused a certain change in lifestyle which in turn has been the real effector and a lot of times things other than cannabis could have achieved the same effect.

Hey, but if it works for you... I say go for it! Party on!

If you want to lose weight make a list of what you consume as "empty calories". High calorie with little or no food value. Quit or reduce those. Maybe if you ate pot instead of candy bars.

Zagnut, Butter Finger and Toblerone. Won't pass those up. First time I had a Toblerone was in Germany. Nothing wrong with the occasional candy bar just like everything moderation is key. I'm also a type 2 diabetic and have got my numbers down so far I no longer have to take insulin. It's kind of strange most of the people I've known with diabetes have been skinny.

Drink more water. A lot of the time your body will send you the wrong message. As for weight loss.. I don't know man.. probably not going to happen from weed. Cocaine maybe, but not weed lol.

Indeed. Drinks are one of the worst offenders of empty calories. It's best to eat all your calories, not to drink them. I'm down to black coffee, water, and homemade wine ( we only live once ! ).

I remember when I was a teen living in South Eastern PA in the 70's the drinking age was 21 so we drove to Emmitsburg, Maryland (about 45 minutes away) where the drinking age was 18 to go to a bar. Afterwards, we bought some Mad Dog 20/20 plum wine to take back to the Keystone State with us. My "friends" thought it would be "cool" to slip some Ex-Lax in my bottle of plum Mad Dog.

Man I had the trots all night long! They were laughing it all up while I was running to the toilet every 5 minutes. I never had to crap so bad in my life!

About a year and a half ago I weighed 287 lbs with borderline high blood sugar. Like a lot of men, as I aged I continued to pack on a few more pounds as time went on. I had briefly hit close to the 300 lb. mark a few times and finally wanted to make a commitment to lose weight before my health was severely affected so I went to my doctor and got a prescription GLP-1. Today I weigh 218 lbs. and feel great. My cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and everything else is a lot better too. Zero side effects and losing the weight was pretty-effortless.

That's what I did to make a serious commitment to lose weight and improve my overall health. Not hoping smoking pot was going to get me anywhere as far as weight loss goes.

I'll still burn one every now and then for fun though! lol
