Would that be your recommendation for a cartridge? I was kind of leaning towards a Grace F9, Grace F8 or Audio Technica AT150SA. I have heard about the V15 before though. That falls in line with the pricing of the others.

It is my biased opinion based on your price range and my love of Shure cartridges. Disclaimer: I do not have a breadth of experience with many cartridges than Shure's vintage offerings.
I did, however, also want to prevent you from being in a similar situation in the future, when the cartridge you decide upon needs a stylus replacement. With JICO around, you will have easy access to replacement styli for a cartridge such as the V15 IV. My recommendation is that whichever cartridge you ultimately choose, ensure that you will be able to source styli for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately I don't have many friends.
What I ended up doing was I found a nearly new Grace F-9 on ebay. I got it came from overseas, and took a few weeks to get here, but I finally got it installed Tuesday night. I am pretty sure I have it set up properly. It sounds fantastic! I have noticed that it is very sensitive to dirty records, at least more than others I have heard. The music sounds much more full and detailed than it did before.
I am getting some slight distortion on the vocals only on some of the inner tracks on a record, so I am not 100% sure I aligned it perfectly, but I have it very close. I'll have to keep playing with it. Unfortunately there aren't many places around here that deal with that sort of thing, and the one that does wanted $175 to set up a cartridge. Taking the KD-500 anywhere isn't exactly pleasant either, with the synthetic granite base it probably weighs about 40 or 50 pounds.

Congratulations on the Grace f9, I have the same cartridge and they are a very good cartridge very full and detailed. You do have to get the alignment dead on as you should with all cartridges. I have no distortion with my f9 so you may be having alignment issues. Do you have azimuth adjustment on your headshell? If so check to make sure it's correct.

No, the headshell on the G707 is permanently affixed. How else could it be adjusted? It seemed like the cartridge lined up at several spots in the slots front to rear or at a couple different overall lengths.
OK you have the Grace 707 tonearm I've had that arm as well, that's a great combo you Have as they were made for each other. So basically you just need to make sure you have your overhang correct and alignment based on which ever protractor your using, which one are you using?.

It says it’s baerwald. No other information is given. I couldn’t find a direct answer as to what is the correct protractor to go with for the grace, so I went with this. Felt like it’s pretty universal. I’m probably wrong.
