Recapping an amp that has thru-hole mounted caps. Unfortunately, spacing on the new caps is different, so need to glue them in place on the PCB. What is a good glue to use? Thanks.
You don't need to glue them in place unless the size difference is extreme, the glue originally was there for holding the larger parts in place during wave soldering.
Glue is usually used on capacitors to keep them from breaking contact with the board during times where there will be vibrations. Soldering, shipment, and field electronics can use glue. If it will be sitting in one spot on a stand and not going through extreme vibrations, leave the glue off to avoid future problems.
RTV uses acetic acid to catalyze the setting, so definitely will not be using. Thanks for the responses, but DigiKey came through with some Panasonic ECG caps with the proper spacing, so, no glue.
