Who cares about cassettes.......I'd like to hear about that Kenny 907 underneath your cassette deck
Cassettes are all about recording.Can't believe I'm listening to a new cassette (Iron & Wine) ...and it sounds good! I may buy some more now.

Ha, yes I love it..picked it up for $200 about 4 years ago....it's a keeper for sure. So far it's the one piece of vintage gear that has never given me a problem.Who cares about cassettes.......I'd like to hear about that Kenny 907 underneath your cassette deck

I am looking for a good cassette deck right now. I have 300-400 cassettes I took out of storage. They are about half and half prerecorded and copies/mixes/etc. I have A LOT of really good, obscure 80s and 90s music on tape.
Good and obscure 80-90 music...please elaborate.

A good cassette deck can sound great, especially if it lets you listen to recordings that you don't have in other formats.
Where does one get a Cassette deck serviced these days? Marantz 5020...... Thanks! AL

I've not had a tape deck in my set up for a while, but they are fun and can sound quite good.

Most electronics repair shops still have access to belts, you should good audio techs in your area.

I bought a cheap MP3 player that will pop into a tape deck in the car. Runs on an internal battery and stores on SD cards. It was 15 bucks, my hope is that its not terrible and I can use it as a clean way to get around the lack of aux inputs on my two cars that have tape decks.
Considering at one time I had a collection of 7-800 cassettes almost none of them were pre-recorded. I would tape my records so that they wouldn't get abused. I still have 500 or so, predominatley Maxell XL II & S's. I remember hearing that they would demagnetize or that the tape would crumble but you know what? They still sound good & I have not had any tape failures and some of these tapes are 40 years old. I own a 2001 car that has a good tape deck in it so I actually still get use out of my collection.
And for the record I 'effin HATE Memorex tapes, they were horrible.

I had an Akai cassette deck. Used to make cassettes for the car or of records I did not want to buy.
I would be cool if I still had it but all the tapes are gone and I’m not willing to record tape again ... digital files are easier, more portable and mostly free.
The cassette and/or reel players look very cool in a sound system.

My stalwart Sony double-tray deck has developed speed problems, probably belts. While I figure out if I can change the belts in it (I've found they are available), I decided to roll my back up cassette deck, a single-tray Aiwa, into the system, but testing it I found it has some kind of electrical sound problem in one channel that it didn't have the last time I tested it. I ended up ordering a JVC double-tray deck off ebay (cheaper that the Sony belts) to sub, till I figure out if I can fix either of the other two. I gotta have a working cassette deck, even if I don't play cassettes as often as I used to. I've just got too much great music on cassette only.
