It isn't that tapehead.

I didn't have to make my dog come sit on me and goto sleep to feel safe and secure. Dog lovers love the ultimate trust a dog can give when deserved. Cats almost never trust anyone and will bite their owner's hand when they feel threatened(dogs do not do this nearly as often as cats), which means they don't trust you to start with. Not all cats are untrustworthy, and not all dogs are trusting, but usually these are the situations.

In my mind love is defined as ultimate trust, and dogs do this very well(better than any other pet). How naive they are, but a good owner can have so much more enjoyment from a dog than any other pet.

While I am not cutting down cats or cat lovers, I just needed to explain something about dog lovers to clarify the inaccuracy of your statement I quoted.

I don't choose, that's why I don't have animals. It's simple for me, when I have a pet I love and treat it right and would not choose an inanimate object over it however once the pets were gone it was an opportunity for me to rethink the whole pet thing and decided not to get anymore.

For now I have enough of my neighbors cat and dog doo doo on my yard to last a lifetime...

I like both dogs and cats, and each have their assets and drawbacks. My observation is not about the animal, but the type of personality of the owner.

Dogs are easily trained. Much more 'domestic' than cats. Cats have a wild, aloof nature. But they have their uses, too. Cat's are 'Friends' whereas dogs are 'Family'. Just my opinion.

Both being fantastic creatures. I love birds, too. Especially Parakeets.

There's another that goes: dogs have owners, cats have staff.

Don't get me wrong though, I love cats and have had various friends over the years. One loved Aerosmith "Rocks" and would sit in his sweet spot every single time I played that album.

When I look at this photo I keep envisioning some six-year-old running up and turning on the faucet.
 
Ok, cat lovers win out in this thread,what have I learned? well mabey there like anything else people love, it dosen't have to make sense to everyone else just you! cats have personalitys and that makes them worth the troubble for some of us ,as for me I still wonder if they tast like chicken? But don't panic because I don't really ever wan't to know the answer to that...
but I did get to see some cute pics and I have a better understanding of cat lovers.It was a good thread I think.Jeff

About being trainable, maybe you've never met a pug? Critters damn near do anything they want, and are so cute they get away with it. At least, I know ours does. :D

I love my gear, but If i needed to chose, the feline or canine rug rats would have priority.

Couldn't have said it better. I've been a music lover all my life, but if I had to choose between every music source in my home and the love I get from my cats, you'd find the equipment at the curb on trash day.

Without meaning to veer into religion, I do believe both cats and dogs can show us an unconditional love that is a link to a higher power in the universe.

How True !!! My cat loves to sit with me in my sunroom while I have my vintage tube system playing rather loud --Doesn't bother her at all .
I think they like music. Sometimes she will go out there and sit and look at the stereo and Meow as if to say --I need to hear some music. I have my chair and she has hers and we sit between the speakers and she just loves it.
She stares intently at the reel to reel or the turntable spinning.
When I break out and sing along with the music she turns and gives me a nasty look.

I bought a pair of near mint Urei 813A speakers... two days later I went down in the basement and found one of the cats had eat away at the surround of the bottom Eminence woofer.. and chewed on the Urei horn blue foam. I had the urge to KILL and chased them around the house until I was exhausted.

I had the Eminence surround re-done and now the basement is closed off to the cats.
