CD player tube output stages.

Has anyone tried a lampizator type mod on their cd player?

How does it compare to a regular output stage mod that employs first rate opamps and high quality components?

There's the Luxman 105 CD player that utilizes a tube output stage, apparently to the same effect.

The deck might be outdated compared with current designs, however the sound is just a bit better compared with a similar vintage Denon CD player I have.

However, it takes a fine pair of headphones for the difference to become audible and just with certain well mastered CDs. Through the loudspeakers the result is not so apparent.

Musical Fidelity makes a nice tube-output CD player. Too "tubey" for my tastes, but a good friend owns one and loves it.

No, but tried one of his open baffle speakers designs, and is the best speaker I have ever heard. I have an old Jolida JD602A CDP, and it sounds great.

Don't have a tube CD player, but I do have a California Audio Labs Sigma II tube DAC in my bedroom system that sounds very nice.

Indeed....I'd love to hear from anyone who has heard such a unit.

It's messy, so I wonder if it's really worth it over, say, top-rate opamps like OPA627s or Bursons.
