I've never owned a Bluray movie or Blueray player. I have no idea whether a Blueray player can play anything other than Blueray movies. In my experience, DVD players can do a reasonable job of playing music CDs, but their displaying track information on their front panels is usually substandard. Also, my Onkyo DX-1800 CD player sounds better.

By default, most blu-ray players play Blu-Ray, DVD and CD natively. Many early Sony players also played SACD's. There are even "universal" decks that will play all those formats plus DVD-Audio and new UHD 4K discs. Very handy if you want one piece of gear to handle like six disc-based formats.

Several current Sony Blu-ray players play Blu-ray, Blu-ray audio, DVD, CD, SACD and UHD 4K (DVD-Audio is not supported). My Sony X700 plays all of them. IMO the price was very reasonable. There is one caveat; it has no analog output.

For playing SACD's I use my ancient Yamaha DVD-S1800. IMO it sounds better. It's only used for SACD's. My CD collection has been ripped to FLAC.
