chasing down a early Scott Mono Amp

wow, ...

(how come the tuner has 'stereo' marked on it if the system is mono?)

... ?

This is the kind of early stereo tuner that receives AM and FM
simultaneously, with one channel on the AM station and the other
on the FM. Many have heard of it, but I never saw a printed ad
for such a broadcast.

If someone knows of a source for knobs like those on that tuner
please let me know, I need four.

I have a 210-B.

Never fired it up though.

It is a beauty and built like a tank too.

yup . . . that 210 is a nice looking amp . . . I'm always a fan of the 'hardware on display' thing . . . very industrial :thmbsp:

shoul dbe picking up my new baby on Saturday

well .. . by this time tomorrow I'll have this baby home !

I can't wait . . . got my variac and my tube tester ready to go . . .

AND the 'mystery speaker' is driving me crazy . . . I love (and loathe) surprises :D

She's Home !

So this is pretty cool . . .

turns out this is a 'one-owner' console, originally purchased by the seller's wife's aunt who has lived with them for the last couple years . . . he offered to let me take his aunt-in-law too, but I declined and suggested he try selling her on ebay too :lmao:

the cabinet is BEAUTIFUL - a description from the factory brochure (also included): Tops, front, and end panels are made of selected sliced cherry, with inlays of quartered tropical olive wood . . . Burnished cherry finish is lightly distressed and hand rubbed to a soft patina . . .

my suspicions were correct on the amp - it's a Scott 99D - 3 tele ECC83's, 2 Sylvania 6L6GC's, and a Raytheon 5U4 . . . faceplate and chassis are MINT MINT MINT . . . . . the seller had already powered it up :yikes: and it shows . . . one ceramic cap in particular under chassis is toasty (connected to the balance/bias pot) so this will get a complete recap before I play with it . . . tuner didn't power up, not sure why yet . . . TT is a Garrard RC88 which needs a needle - I kjnow have four of these badboys - might be able to finally make ONE GOOD ONE :D Next up I need to test the tubes to make sure his powering the unit up didn't cook anything . .. fingers are crossed that the PT and/or OPT are OK too . . . nothing toasty or leaking from either, so I *should* be OK . . .

AND NOW . . . THE MYSTERY SPEAKER . . . .

turns out to be an incredibly perfect Electrovoice 12TRXB

I always wanted one of these

not too shabby for $20 + $30 in gas (I actually won it for $15, but figured the least I could do was round up to $20 :D)

Jeez . . .this is getting ridiculous. .. I think this now makes 12 amps (of my own) that need a recapping . . . ANYWAY . . . I'll recap my Scott Type 209 long before I get to this one . . .

check out the eye candy:

It's a large spindle to be used when playing a stack of 45s with the
Garrard changer. Or even a single 45 if you dont want to use those
little plastic adapters.

I'm not in a big hurry, no worries my friend! Take your time, and do it right I always say (But rarely do I! :D)!

Jeeze -- I can't believe that you managed to grab that sweet setup for that price on ePray, of all places! That has to be the stealth score of the year, for sure. Nice going, beautiful little console. :thmbsp:
