Citation II

Westy56

A symphony of paradox
Is the Citation II the HK amp to have? I have the opp to buy a pair.

I noticed that the Citation series had a few models.

Steve

The Citation I & IV are preamps, Citation I is the better of two but the IV is good as well. The Citation II and V are Amps the same applies with the II vs V.
The Citation III is a tuner that came in two flavors, the III and IIIx.
There is nothing here you want to turn down.

I just have the two II's to choose from.

If they can't be bridged, Ill pick the nicer of the two and run it with my MC240.

Good luck. :thmbsp: I've never heard one, but I've definitely heard "of" them, & wish I could find one cheap. ;) I have a Cit I preamp, that Jim was very helpful with. He knows this stuff better than anyone, I imagine.

Hi,
The Citation II is a great amp! I have one that I rebuilt and really like the sound! I believe Jim's site or perhaps the Citation Group on Yahoo has instructions for running in bridged mode. If you can get them at a good price, then jump on them. Just keep in mind that if these units are stock, not rebuilt, then it would be wise to rebuild before using. In my opinion, you cant go wrong!

Also, make sure they are not the Citation 11 (eleven) solid state models. Not that there is anything wrong with the elevens, but they are not the Cit II's. btw, each Citation II weighs about 60 pounds!! Real back breakers

Danny

If the price is right pick them both up regardless of your intended/ended use.. :)

I already have two citation 19's. That's enough HK SS for me.

These will be coming from an extremely eccentric person. He still has to pull them out. It will take a while.
That gives me time to make an educated offer.

I see a Cit I and II combo on Audiogon for 1,900 and no takers.

That leads me to preliminarily believe that I should be able to get both amps for cheaper than my Mac.

I thank everyone for the responses.

Jim's mods will get you up and running, but you can do better for less money if you don't mind doing some research. You can also get everything you need from AK site sponsors.:thmbsp:

I don't mind. Only the best for these.

Its going to take a while, but what a fun and rewarding project.

I did get a quad of KT-88's with them. I hope the 12BY7A's are common.
