I always liked Fred McMurray - not as 'classy' as some and although typecast as a Nice Guy he quite often played unlikeable characters. However I discovered that in real life he was extremely well liked, a thoroughly nice guy in every respect. I agree with the inclusion of most if not all of the men in this thread.
A good example of an unlikeable character is his portrayal of Lt Keefer in 'The Caine Mutiny' - and who could forget him in 'Double Indemnity'

Jimmy Steward was class.Ok, I'll put one up;
Jimmy Stewart, for his portrayal of Charles Lindberg and the events surrounding his famous flight. Took a historical figure, and made him "real" . Class in my book

PS, in case any of you are wondering why I chose Jimmy Stewart as "classy" for his portrayal of Lindbergh's flight, and not Lindbergh himself, I'll leave you all to research Lindbergh's personal life for yourselves, and form your own opinions regarding "classy".......
It's well known, I think. On the other hand that guy, not referring to Lindbergh, was on the cover of Time magazine, man of the year.
