Hi Bobby, I just ordered 2 pair of your Emit Diaphragms online, strictly as spares, while they are still there. I purchased these immaculate Kappa 8's from a local new and used Audio Retailer who's shop went under last year due to Covid, he now operates privately. The domes have yellowed, but are still pliable. I wanted to see what I can do for my "cancer patient" while still in stage 1 / 2. I saw the techniques people used and was wondering, 2 years later, if there were any negative side effects. I also wanted to know how your, "polydome project" went. Any thoughts appreciated and Big Thanks for doing what Harmon/Infinity won't...

I recently got a pair of Kappa 7.1 Series 2. My domes are perfectly soft and pliable but did get yellow.
Given this situation, is there a NEED to do something to them right now or no? It does sound a bit scary / risky since replacements aren't exactly cheap or easy to get. If this is mostly a cosmetic improvement that isn't needed for anything else I'd probably rather leave them alone.
Thoughts?

Thanks! In that case I'm not going to run the risk of ruining them for no reason other than cosmetics.

When I was rebuilding Polydomes I would apply 303 Protectant as a final step. It reduces damage from UV, and protects plastics.

If your Domes are still soft and pliable you can get the yellow out by applying some heat with a blow dryer, but on low and from a distance at first, constantly rotating the dryer to spread heat evenly and lightly until they start to go clear. This isn’t for the faint of heart, and you do it at your own risk LOL! But it does work!

Is this supposed to take a very long time?
I tried it for a few minutes and there's definitely some improvement.
How long does it last? And is the other way presented in this thread longer lasting?
I ordered some of that stuff. I wonder if it will help them stay clear longer after the hairdryer treatment?
I'm seeing now that it definitely doesn't last. It's already on it's way turning yellow. I ordered the Meguiar stuff.

They look to be the same or similar to the ones @engelder2 and I are using, He is offering them a DIY kit with complete instructions and I am offering a full service option.
EDIT: I have been informed by my colleague that these are not the same domes we are using. They may be the harder plastic ones that have been around for a while.

Ok cool! I sent @engelder2 a PM. I've seen some videos, this looks doable to perform myself.
I'm going the Meguiar route first but it would be good to have this kit around for the future and / or in case the Meguiar doesn't work very well for me.
Well I did the Meguiar thing. WOW!!! They look like new. Mine are also still perfectly pliable so I'm guessing it's gonna be a while before I'll have to use @engelder2 's kit. I did order one to be "future proof" because these speakers are serious keepers!
