Another shout out for silicone oil. Treating with VLR then a thin coat of Silicone oil a few times a year keeps the polydomes looking great!

In my minimal research, it appears that silicone oil doesn't evaporate. If that's the case, it means that you're slowly increasing the mass of your domes.

You're correct. Under "normal" day to day conditions, silicone oil doesn't evaporate.

That's what makes it so great for our polydomes. It creates a strong stable barrier over the Polypropylene dome. Silicone is very safe on many plastics.

To be clear, I do carefully wipe the previous coating off before applying again. I would probably never have to reapply but it does attract dust.

**EDIT** I meant to add, my ears cant tell the difference before and after applying the oil. That doesn't mean there's no change, I'm sure one can be seen if measured properly. I'm alright with it. It's gratifying to keep these old Polydomes looking so good.
