The 'pots' are potentiometers, the rotary controls for volume, bass, midrange and treble. Since we are lazy, it gets shortened to 'pots'. Well, that, and the resemblance to pots.
Get yourself some de-oxit, it will clean and lube your Sansui. Start by removing the case and faceplate. Each of the pots and switches has a hole to access the inner workings, if it is not open. Spray liberally, work the control many times. One-hundred times is not too many. Finish with a final spray, to flush and lube. You can spray the tuft of a Q-tip and clean the RCA jacks on the back.
Do not spray the tuning capacitor, the collection of plates on a spindle. The tuner may drift if you get spray on the surfaces. Instead, use a small rod or even the straw from the spray nozzle, and carry in a drop of De-Oxit to the contact points on the spindle.
Others, with broader experience, can alert you to other pitfalls which my lucky self has managed to avoid.
