Colored vinyl?

I have a bunch of colored vinyl, but that’s largely because I was buying punk records in the 90s, when everyone was way into running limited batches of various colors. I also buy a bunch of stuff from current labels that do the same. I don’t think that I’ve consistently noticed that colored pressings are worse than black. Some are. Also, the pressing plants with QC problems are more likely to have done recent colored pressings.

I tend to prefer black because it’s easier to see issues and to clean. But I get what there is, and often the first pressing of stuff I want is colored so I buy it.

I have a couple of recent picture discs (because they were released exclusively as pic discs) and they don’t sound as bad as I remember them sounding in the 80s. Still don’t like them as a playing copy.

I only brought it up because collectors refer to them as "cerise"....and they do that because that's what RCA called the color in their literature.

Popular...Black
Classical...Red
Popular Classical...Midnight blue
Children's...Yellow
Country and Western...Green
Blues and Rhythm...Cerise
International...Sky blue
 
I like it, it looks cool. I've got a Flogging Molly picture disc thats just way neat to watch spin.
 
In the past I had a turntable with a felt mat,after playing a white vinyl pressing I was shocked at how much the mat had shed fibres onto the record,the mat was swiftly replaced by a cork one.
