Commercials You Hate

Register to hide this ad
Progressive insurance, pretty much all of them anymore.

Car dealer commercials. Stop yelling at me.

Commercials for TV news programs where the reporter is walking briskly towards the camera while they talk. I guess I'm supposed to go "wow, they are intense this must be good"

I have come to hate ALL insurance company ads. That recent Progressive one in the restaurant is just the worst of a horrible bunch.

I never had a DVR until 2007. Now, I can't imagine watching TV without it, just because I can zap the damn ads.

End rant.

Can't stand the Auto Nation chick (Monica Lacy). So annoying. Likewise, "Red" the Wendy's girl (Morgan Smith-Goodwin). Fortunately, that campaign was dumped in the deep fryer.

And about ALL the Pill ads. Myst a Chryghty, HALF of em I can barely speak,, there is generally a NEW Campaign for the NEXT Miracle Cure every week... And they're DECIEVING as hell. And that poor, aristocratic-lookin', Saintly lady named "Cory" who has Metastatic Breast Cancer... I asked my wife who' was an RN, & she said that poor lady had Better be Gettin' all her Chyte in Order, 'cause SHE ain't gonna be around too much longer.. No, it AIN't the "New Normal", Lady.. There's gonna be some Singin in a small spot of Ground, YOU ain't gonna hear. They put these Blivvets on TV, & get the hopes up of folks who really DO have this stuff, & then THEY wonder WHY they don't look or feel as good as Saintly Cory does...

Our UK television is saturated with ads for funeral insurance. There seems to be a new one every other month.sometimes there’s two in a commercial break.
Ads that make men out to be thick, like the Muller light greek style yoghurt that used a guy being stupid right after she said the word “thick”.
Or when a woman comes home and catches him doing something stupid.
Ads featuring girls playing football. It’s not so much what they’re doing as the propaganda way the ads are changing the easily lead in society. Every time there’s kids playing football, it’s girls.
Female empowerment ads that think they’re being subtle. Shampoo and hairspray ads used to use words like beautiful, now emphasise the word “strong”.

I hate ALL commercials. I mute the TV immediately when they start.

Radio commercials are even worse.

Agreed. I detest commercials of all kinds. I have completely stopped watching commercial TV and no more radio (except some NPR music).
Billions are spent on advertising - because it works. I was amazed in Psych 101 at how easily people are manipulated. AMAZED.

OH, and the OP asked - at work, some do play commercial radio, and seems that several stations run the same damn ad frequently "Joe.com" - I hate hate hate it.

I only watch shows that I've recorded and then I'm able to just zip right through commercials. If I'm watching a live sporting event, I'll pause the broadcast for 15 or 20 minutes and go do something else. When I return to the TV, I'm able to zip through those commercials too.

There is one commercial I actually liked. The Heineken ad with Daniel Craig and the girl water skiing. That was decent.
The rest of these tedious, insulting ads... burn 'em all, and salt the ground.

Where has it come off that the vast majority of ads should make an attempt at humor? It is a dismal failure. Perhaps I should just realize I am not the target audience. It pains me, however, to realize there is a target audience.

I rarely see ads either since my viewing is mainly YouTube. I have an ad blocker here on the computer that halts EVERY STINKIN' AD that they try to throw. I can set up a playlist of music and be done. No worrying about overly loud ads jolting me out of my relaxation. My blu-ray rarely shows ads on YouTube, and I've noticed you can generally skip those within a few seconds. With that being said, yes, the insurance ads are bad. I think the ones that grind my gears are the ones that tell you no matter your health, you're covered for life insurance. Yes, that is true. They'll say "as low as $x.xx per month per unit." Again, true. What people don't realize is that is guaranteed issue life. A "unit" might be $100 worth of coverage! You are going to pay out the wazooka for it. I've been around insurance all my life since my dad got in the business in 1977, and I dabbled in it myself for a few years.

I was listening to Jerry ":king:The King:king:" Lawler on his podcast the other night. Right in the middle of the podcast, he broke into commercial for an all natural "blue pill." At first I thought it was some sort of joke. No, this almost 70 year old man that should've hung up the wrestling tights 10 years ago is hawking natural Viagra! :yikes::no::eek: I guess when your girlfriend is young enough to be your granddaughter, you have to do something! :rflmao::rflmao::rflmao::rflmao::rflmao:
