Conceal and Carry Recommendations?

yeah but if we are worrying about worst case scenario, IN extreme CQB a wheel gun can be disabled simply by the attacker grasping the cylinder; if you don't believe me try it!!
a high quality auto with good ammo goes bang everytime too...
most sigs have NO safety at all.
cheers,
tal

Timing is everything. Make sure that grasp comes exactly after a shot is fired & not during otherwise, hot potato.

;)

My comment on semi-autos not going into battery had to do with poor grip under stress rather than ammo quality. If you don't have a solid grip and the pistol moves in your hand during firing, the slide may not fully eject the fired casing. It happens most often when shooting with one hand/weak hand only rather than a Weaver hold. Both are situations that could come up quickly where you may not have time to optimize your response. I don't look at that as a worst case scenario but the most likely one.

Some of you have some nice guns.
I carry an EAB Windicator .357 & FIP Super Titan .380.
They're both still a littlle difficult to "conceal" durring the summer.

My every day carry is a WALTHER P22. With the front sight removed so it will not snag.It fits nicely behind my wallet. And if you need the front sight The self defence thing probly wont help you in front of the judge. If I didnt have a mest up back and I had the cash Id defnitly go for the Kimber 45.acp

Having more then one type of pistol and a CC permit , every thing from a 1911 to a snub nose S&W 38 . The Colt is my favorite but it is big where the Smith will easily fit in my front pocket . The 38 is the six shot officers model , no hammer to get caught on anything.

The Bulldog 44SPL snub nose is another fine gun for the money .

This one isn't mine but it's the exact same model & manufacturer. Let's see who really knows their European pistols. Can anyone guess what it is?

I saw a .410 shotgun 3” chamber revolver at the local supermarket / hardware/ sporting goods/ pizza store for $450. The thing looked like a monster! :yikes:

I would imagine that you would just have to aim in the general direction with that.

glad i live in vermont. onliest thing ya need a gun fer hear is ta knock off a few squirrels now and then fer supper.

I usually carry a CZ 9mm rami or CZ85B 9mm with 2 reloads, I also keep a Glock 22 40 with 2 reloads and a Sig 556 assault rifle in the trunk of my car. I prefer to have them and not need them as opposed to needing them and not having them.

That being said, if you are planning to own, use and/or carry a gun, PLEASE, take safety courses, learn how to load, fire, aim and clean your gun. An educated gun owner is a safer gun owner.

That is absolutely the most important thing said in this thread! I was shown at age 2 how to respect a gun, how to use it (my Grandma's .32 revolver), if I needed to, and taught gun safety & etiquette. What's rule #1? ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED. That eliminates the whining excuse for an accident; "I didn't know it was loaded". If all young children were taught proper gun safety, just as they're taught fire safety and drowning safety, we would seldom see gunplay accidents. So many gun accidents with young children involved, just as with house fires caused by young children playing with matches, the cause is lack of knowledge, curiosity, and mystique of doing the forbidden.

Aaron Have you now learned the value of asking an opinion LOL. Everyone has one and most are different. Take what has been said here and make your own decisions.

It is most important you are comfortable and experianced with the Pistol you chose to carry. Beyond that is all comes down to tastes.

JUST LIKE STEREO GEAR

Me, I would carry a revolver. For defense. For offense, that is another matter. Gimme a semi-auto rifle. I'll be out of range of all those handguns.

My Lady has an issued S&W in .40 S&W. Great gun. Not even in the league with the other, a 1st generation Glock 9mm. This thing is way smooth. Well built, too.

As has been said you need to find the one that is right for you. Many choices out there. I do know many like myself have more than one carry gun. In my case the choice is the time of year and the clothing I will be wearing.

I am building a light weight commander size 1911 in 38 super for my winter gun.

Most of the time with light clothing I carry a 9X18 Makarov.

As has been said in previous posts, many factors to consider.

But it seems to me that the two biggest factors for Concealed Carry is concealment and ease of use/operation.

Although I have several different pistols for different situations, a small, light and dependable firearm is going to be paramount for Concealed Carry.

Remember that C.C. is for defense. Any good quality firearm of caliber above a 22 or 25 is going to more than equalize the playing field with a mugger.

My Dad used to say that you should never show up at a gunfight with a knife!

Although I have several automatics, I do think a revolver is a good choice for C.C. As I said in an earlier post, in the event of a misfire, just pull the trigger again.

I have a S&W M&P 9mm compact that's nice but I don't carry concealed. If I did it would be a Makarov or HK P7. Tough to beat the Makarov for reliability.
