"Correct me if I am wrong, but..."

"At the end of the day......"

"lets get all our ducks in a row"

yada yada yada

Grrrrrrrrr :grumpy:

i am part of a debating/speaking club and am always looking out for peoples filler words or phrases, a couple that really annoy me are: "whatever it may be" "basically" and "we can see through this that..." the last one seems to be what most debaters say right after a piece of evidence has been introduced into the debate round

It is what it is.

Yep,like fingernails on a chalkboard. Also "Going Forward" When did the tried and true "in the future " retire?

Also agree with Wiggy(dammitt) on the demise of the english language.

I had a person the other day, tell me the other lady showed her a eyeglass frame.

I said "lady,I am no lady"

...I mean...
And still they can't tell me what they mean ! They start off telling me about a problem then 'I mean' pops up and they're off on another topic . So much rambling with ' I mean ' and 'you see' and I still don't know what they were trying to say .

"Frankly" almost always precedes some disingenuous BS. If uttered by a politician, it's an outright lie.

IMHO, "in my humble opinion", seems to always be spoken by those who are never humble about the value of their opinion.

Coworker used to begin a phrase by saying "I'm just talking out loud"...
One day I looked at him and said "no $h1t". Problem solved.

At work - "havin fun yet?" You can't get away from that one no matter where you work. "well, in theory" or "honestly". Just say what you're going to say.

I'm an "actually" abuser. I figured it out when I started hearing my kids using that word all the time.

"Correct me if I'm wrong" really doesn't bother me, and for the reason Wigwam gave.

Some popular corruptions of words that bug me.

The "a" (and "ah") game.... Playa, gangsta, etc.

The "z" game..... Boyz, girlz, etc.

At best this was clever, and perhaps even hip or trendy for the first 5 or 6 times it was done. After that? Just lame worn out crap.
