CR-2040 Phono Selector Switch?

Just got my 2040 delivered to my door today. And I'm going over it very carefully.
The faceplate needed a bit of cleaning along with a few pots. And the case may need a little attention from a furniture pen. But, overall I'm actually pretty impressed. It's actually in much nicer shape than I was expecting. It is very distinct from the 820 and 2020. It's definitely much cleaner sounding than my 820 and my 2020. The 2020 has more of a warmer sound, but the 2040 is definitely much cleaner. The 820 and the 2020 are rather close in sound quality. But, the 2040 sounds like it's a cut above the other 2. It seems very understandable to me now why some people say the 2040 has more of a "modern" sound.

Quick question.

On the CR-2040, there's a switch on the front panel next to the volume knob called the "phono selector". And it has settings for MC Amp, 33 K ohms, 47 K ohms, 68 K ohms, and 100 K ohms. I'm turning the knob to the different settings, and each one gives my records a different sound. But, I don't know which one is correct. Tried searching on Google, but there's not much info out there it seems. Any recommendations?

These are loading resistors for the cartridge that your using. What cartridge are you using ? Cartridge spec sheet should have the reccomended loading resistance. 47KΩ is pretty standard for most MM cartridges.
 
I believe thats the stylus model number D73S. I need the cartridge make and model #. Most likely printed on the side of the cartridge.

My phono player is a fully automatic Denon Quartz DP-23F. The stylus is a Stanton D73S. That's what it was set up with when I bought it a couple weeks ago.. I don't know where to find cartridge info. The stylus has no other info on it.
 
The stylus is just the needle portion of the cartridge..The stylus usually plugs into the cartridge.The cartidge plugs into the tone arm of the Denon.

I had the whole end of the tone arm off to look for any useful info. Nothing else printed on it anywhere except for letters where the wires go into the back.
