so...I could go to OC...and pay for 2 things....or go to speakerex and ....get both....for cheaper. Sounds pretty straight forward....that's why I want to know the quality difference, because if OC is going to charge 25$ for a pair of dustcaps and then 30$ for the refoam kit...without shipping...and speakerex has both for 30...that would lead be to believe OC either has significantly better quality equipment...or they just overprice their stuff.

They are a bit overpriced (caps anyway) but the foams and glue are significantly better than any other ones :yes:
 
You do not need to replace the dust caps, it is easy to refoam without needing to remove the dust cap and shim.

It's the same double layered foam as OC has, it is better than what was on the speakers from the factory. These are a bit thicker. They fit perfectly without a single problem. It was pretty easy to do, I have only refoamed one other set of speakers before these. They look like new now. Here's how they turned out.http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=224731
If you want, ship the woofers to me and I will refoam them for you on the cheaps, like just the cost of shipping.....Let me know. Unless of course there is a place near you so you don't have to ship them, or don't want to ship.

My cones aren't as black as those xDD....they're like grey...is that bad?
And I kind of want to do it myself...just for the experience.

Alot of CV's have grey woofers. They use different materials alot for some reason. That and if they are exposed to sunlight or had the grills removed for a while they will fade a bit

If you want to know about refoam kits or parts, please start a new thread. Please stay ON topic.
 
Either one...SM or CV I wouldn't waste my time on; other than refoaming and flip them to someone that owns an Ipod!

Spend your money on speakers that do it all!

Rock speakers...garage speakers...yeah ok

My garage sounds better with others!

I've had D9's and heard SM's... too much distortion for my tastes, loud or soft!

But, that is just me...buy em' and/or try em' and you decide...
 
I never had to use the "scary button" on my D9s, but I did have to replace the fuses on more than one occasion.
 
My Denon pops the "scary button" on my U-351 HED's after I've tipped a few. Never blew a fuse though. I guess the foil is doing it's job. :D

That likely means you are clipping your signal. The circuit breaker can handle alot more than what the 900V can give her w/o being set. Drinking a few too many definintely can affect your judgement, but it's good to have a circuit breaker there to protect your tweeters when you do.:thmbsp:
