In the mid to late 70's Dahlquist made a small speaker with a metal case. I want to think maybe 8"h x 4"w x 5"d. These were also commonly used for car audio. Anyone remember them?

I worked at an Audio Store in Central Illinois and we did sell Braun (not Visonik or Radio Shack). We were a strong supporter of Dahlquist speakers and sold many of them. I could be incorrect that has been many years ago,

ALS 3 was among 19 entries in the infamous Stereo Review minispeaker shootout featured in the Aug. 1979 issue (page 58).
Though similar in size to the smallest entrants, about 2 litres, and pitted against products up to about 6 litres, it was the only 3-way model competing. Seems very likey Dahlquist was indeed targeting the mobile audio market, as did several other minispeaker makers of that era.

Luxman had the CS-6 for automotive market. Metal box but angled so it could fit on the rear shelf more easily and it had a thick rubber cover over part of the back, sides end and half the top.
I would have liked to hear both of these compared. I know the CS-6 was excellent but never have heard the ALS-3.

The copy of the Stereo Review was a complete mind blower! The advertisements took the fog off of so man items, was very much a mind treat. Many of the articles were amazing in what was written then and what has truly transpired. It reminds me of the movie Back to the Future where Marty has the magazine of the sports scores.
