Dayton ultimax Driver Swap for Velodyne hgs18 advice

Hello fellow AKer's! I have a Velodyne Hgs 18 that has some unique behavior. It seems to bottom out at specific low frequencies, even at low volume. But can handle much lower notes even at much higher volume. Me and AudioFreak71 seem to think it may possibly be the servo. Regardless, there's an issue. It does not seem to be the driver, I have plans to have it looked at by a relatively local subwoofer tech, but he won't be available till fall, I have seen talk of replacing the oem woofer with one from Dayton audio, the Ultimax 18 specifically. But this is not a servo driver, and since we believe that's what the issue is (the servo) the dayton would be great, i would still use the existing amp inside and bypass the servo. The problem is, I do not know how to do this, haha. I was hoping some of you might be able to help me with this endeavor so I can still enjoy the pleasures of a subwoofer until the sub tech is available. Thank you for your time everyone.
