I have the DCD-1520 and I love it. Has anyone compared this to the DCD-1560? What, if anything is better about the 1560? They look almost the same on the outside.

Thanks!

Both should be very close in terms of SQ as both have excellent Burr Brown DAC's in them (2x PCM64P vs. 2x PCM1701P).
Both have the same transports too (KSS-151A) so they're the same in that respect as well.

Me,,,I'd take either,,,no wait a second >>> make that both !!! LOL...

Both---- I hear ya...:)

They sound very very comparable. I wonder what the original retail prices were, and why they might have varied?

There's a 1560 for sale locally. Not cheap, but it got me thinking if my 1520 needed a big brother...

Thanks!

there shouldn't much difference between the 2
both very good machines
i have a 1560 and 2650
only difference is features

The 1560 was the follow up to the 1520, the next year's model as it were. As I recall from selling Denon back then it had some extra tech (more bits/oversampling/whatever) to keep up with or ahead of the competition. Not worth changing for, as mentioned they were very similar. The upgrade would be to something like a 3520 or 3560 IIRC.

Agreed, DCD-3520 and DCD-2560 with dual transformers are a cut above. Extra effort means better channel separation.
