Denon DP-47F

cableguy:

Nice TT! :thmbsp:

As a matter of fact it's so nice that I'm going to ask you if you could measure how high the highest point on it is. :D
I can, of course, only find measurements with the dustcover on the table...

The reason I'm asking is that I've seen one of those for sale here without the cover and I'm wondering if it will fit in the shelf I've got with reasonable room to spare above. I have a serious height restriction and therefore an automatic of this kind would be perfect, if only it would fit...

Thanks in advance! :beerchug:

The DP-47F was made as late as 2000.
Looking at Denon's web site it appears that the DP-47F is no longer produced.

No, it isn't made anymore as far as I understand.
But I've found a used one for sale not too far from where I live.

Thing is I need to know how much space I will need for it heightwise because I'm unsure if I will have enogh space above it to actually put a record on, which might be handy to be able to do. :D
Therefore I would like to know how high it is WITHOUT the dustcover. :)

It's too far to go over there and measure it, just to find it won't fit...

ztenlund, you will probably need the height WITH the dustcover, because when you use the 'locate' buttons to move the tonearm the headshell scrapes off the top of the dustcover....

Ahh, so there isn't any margin inside the cover.

Any idea how much space the tonearm takes up relative to the platter, vertically that is of course?
Edit: Obviously the height of the platter above the surface the table is standing on will tell me the same thing.
Anyway will do but I suspect it will be a lot faster/easier measuring how tall the platter sits.

The entire table is 17,9 cm or 7,3 inches according to the specs in the service manual.
Interestingly 7,3 inches equates to 18,5 cm's...

It should fit but I'm unsure as to how much of a PITA it will be to change the record...

I could of course buy it and if it doesn't fit place it in the bedroom instead. :scratch2:

Once again, tanks in advance! :beerchug:

The total height including the cover is just less than 5.5 inches.
The height upto the spindle is just less than 4.5 inches (approximately because its quite difficult to measure).

Thanks ToTo Man! :thmbsp:

I looked in you gallery and from what I gather you've got the DP-45F, right?
According to the specs it is lower than the DP-47F just as your measurements show.
Anyway the arm/cover height will probably be about the same on both models so now I've got an idea.

Seems the entire older series is somewhat lower which would fit my needs better.
Yesterday another Denon surfaced, a DP-51F for something like $60-70 and I've sent an e-mail to the seller but so far no response. I'll have to wait and see this evening if something comes in.

If I don't get an answer I'll try going after the DP-47F instead since I think it'll fit but be somewhat tight.

The thread that lives on........sorry for not getting back to any of the questions but I'm on a vacation and not by a computer. Yes that was the Pickering, and it was replaced shortly after the pic was taken. As far as measurements, Thanks Kenwoodlover for picking up the ball. And the headshell I got from Parts Place.....peace :thmbsp:

Just saw a DP-47F at an Austin Goodwill for Saturday auction. Looks to be in good shape. Written bid price was already $160!
