Denon DP80 & DP75 Owner's Thread

Quite expensive to ship to/from Japan and my query on associated service costs to 2 repair shops in Japan concluded that is best to just hunt for a fully refurbished one in like new cosmetic condition .. preferably fully serviced motor to last another decade or two. Monte's dp-80 had been similarly rebuilt in Japan and all good then. Cheers.

Nice ! That is to me the only way to buy such vintage turntables to avoid issues that cost the same to repair and I did the same probably from same seller.

Nevertheless, do try out Sendico service next time to buy from Yahoo! Auction or Mercari at lower item prices and lowest corporate shipping cost of such heavy 10-20 kg turntable and/or plinth (free shipping is already taken into account by seller).. ebay charges Japanese seller heavily up to 17% or more with lousy exchange rate as well as exorbitant shipping cost and I know it as I also sell stuff on ebay.

I use them extensively and their repacking service is second to do or even item checking service for just a few dollars. When needed, their customer service also communicates to seller in English.

I once bought Cusco battery optimiser and both me and my mechanic cannot figure out installation and they contact Cusco Japan for all needed instructions in english.

Cheers.

Hi, You could always buy from Japan & ask them to send for refurbishment. Then get the refurbisher to send to you, just use the Ebay question & answer service.

Cheers

Been watching for a year EBAY, Buyee, Yahoo etc, the price I knabed it at was stellar, definitely no buyers remorse. You'd be hard pressed to find a restoration like this far under 1k which I paid. But thanks for your consideration.

Not recommended since that will be paying twice and take twice as long while subjected to mishap and miscommunication .. as shown, full service costs same as fully furnished one. Cheers.

Dealer was stellar, the dollar is much stronger then the Yen right now if you want things out of Japan you buy it from them now imho directly from reputable dealers. They need our help they need our money to support their families. God bless the Japanese and the United States of America. We raised them from ashes and we'll do it again.

Very happy this evening with diy and cost effective, fully adjustable "furniture" footers at usd10 for 4 pieces for pending refurbished dp-80 plinth, lined with double layered groundzero damping material I happened to have throughout except needed thread section .. each is now about 200g since loaded with cheapest usd6 lead balls I can find that are used for fishing.

Await rubberised rings of 10, 20 and 30mm thick at usd5 to determine what is for final product to mirror stock 3" height

Mounting of footer attachments onto plinth, stepped m10 to m8 rubber rings of 20mm thickness to rest onto top caps of footer had been completed and to pick up lead "sands" inside lower adjustable bottom stand of footers for final mounting in the next few days on this diy adjustable height footers. Cheers.

Armboards of dk-200 plugged and ready for automotive paint before drilled for to-be-chosen tonearms while sme iv will be one of them to compensate a bit on the seemingly inferior plinth material and more importantly light weighted much smaller footprint compared to way bigger dk-300 armboards .. will be piano black for tonearms to shine a bit more. Cheers.

Automotive spray painted dk200 armboards ready for decided sme and microseiki 505x cutouts by german armboard specialists while one will be kept uncut as spare .. not sure why some holes not covered with putty but think looks ok and not too raw. Cheers.

PS: Decided also against glossy mirror black to better match non glossy leather wrapped dk200 plinth and alleviate dust magnet.

Stepdown xformers all mounted into 2x dk300 and 1xdk200 .. longer term mod will be detachable inlets on rear of plinth as done for remaining dp-47f after having sold 2 other recapped and polished/ceramic coated only dp-47f. Cheers.

As promised, here are some photos of plinth development with my friend a retired scientist from Los Alamos Laboratories at the control. Obviously I designed a round plinth and now deciding on a finish. I'm a retired paint contractor so this portion is my field:smoke:.

Awwaah ... so nice and pls keep us updated on the progress.

Had always wish for such round plinth with incorporated solid armboard mount to minimise precious rack estate albiet not sure of dustcover option for some .. any chance to offer such plinth to audiokarma members here ?

Meanwhile, the dk-200 shown below will have to do for 1 of 2 dp-80 and I do like the aluminium trim for a more updated look than bigger full glossy and matt black dk300 shared earlier with reportedly superior sounding engrg laminated wood.

Cheers.

Hi, Does anyone have a Denon DP-80 KU-263 control board, they are willing to part with, happy to make a ''Friends & Family'' contribution. I just F'd up my board trying to do a recap.

Cheers

I love this thread. AK at it's best. The DP-75 and DP-80 is Denon DD at it's very peak of perfection. The penultimate non Technics DD I ever lusted after (and I still do).
