Discoloration on corner of meter, fixable?

There is some sort of gunk, not sure what it is in the corner.

anyone know if the meter can be take apart and cleaned/repaired

You can for sure take those apart, but looks like the film went melty…

How do you go about removing these meters?

On most Sansui gear with thiis type of meters there is usually double face tape on the part of the meter face that isn't visible keeping it attached to the back surface of the steel plate. So you'd need to gently pry the meter housing away to break the bond. Will need new adhesive tape (on the order of Scotch brand poster tape which is clear and has adhesive on both sides) to reattach them when finsihed.

I just searched ebay for the meters, there is one pair of signal and tuning meter together for 5050/6060 listed but the price is very steep; a couple of hundred bucks (!!). No replacement films available that I'm aware of, as they don't have a high enough demand for anyone to bother making and selling reproductions.
