Finally got some time on the lathe. This project sure is slow going these days.

Made the plate to hold the bearing inside the motor endbell:

Finished up the bearing cap, added a spindle and test fitted the mounting plate:

Test fitting the plate in the endbell:

I need to drill and tap the plate to mount it with some bolts to the endbell. Once its assembled its onto the tonearm, after that I will strip and powder coat everything.

The base is now together ready for testing. Next up is the motor pod. Then the tone arm. Then it will all be stripped and powdercoated etc.

The grease wheel decks are popular right now, However, Ed's deck would have the best of all things. Personally, I'd opt for manual gease cups as it offers the advantage of supplying the exact amount needed. Besides, they have the Steampunk/Capt. Nemo look!

I'm not on top of the whole plan, but is there a possibility of using a Stirling engine to drive the platter? I believe it would be vastly superior to the more commonly used double expansion steam engine.

Late Edit: I think that my initial suggestion has one, and only one, real flaw. Steam power allows you to attach a whistle, that can be used to signal your wife that you need another beer.
