i personally prefer speakers without grills too.
but last couple months, my wife's friends brought their 4-9 year old children over to my house when they visited, and everytime, my speakers suffer from curious fingers wanting to poke the dust caps and tweeters. my two main speakers were custom made and designed to have no grill cover. in my music room, i have jbl 112, ar-2a, 4x, and ads 710 - all without grills. i get so nervous when those kids come, i can't even go outside. specially, one of them is a super hyper totally out of control freaky brat that literally bounces up and down off the wall and spills and breaks everything that's in his way. my kids on the other hand were perfectly trained to respect the old speakers and to keep their fingers off them.
