Do you drink and spin records?

Drinking and posting? There's another thread I'll get on! I have to admit I've f'd up when cueing after having a few- But that sweet spot is sooo sweet! I'll try to remember to switch to digital from now on!

I sit at home by myself, drink bourbon and play sad old songs. Probably not healthy but feeling stuff makes you feel human. I don't do this all the time, but I actually enjoy it...gotta start using the cueing lever though with the wobbly unipivot arm I have now. The hand loses some steadiness the longer the night gets.

It depends on the type of music :D
My sister-in-law has to eat gluten-free. You can drink red wine, no?? That's actually quite healthy.

Some (most) red wines are okay, from the standpoint of gluten. But red wine is hardly a healthful thing to consume, in spite of what the makers would like you to believe. There is a slight correlation between consuming small amounts of it periodically and having fewer heart attacks, but that ignores various other things (like an increased rate of strokes) that more than offset the advantages.

They also make a big deal out of the antioxidants in it, but all plants have antioxidants, including heavy amounts in the amanita mushrooms that are the most toxic plants known to exist! If you want the same antioxidants plus a whole lot of genuinely healthful nutrients, drink raw, freshly-made grape juice or grapes. Cut out the other things (esp. refined sugars) and keep your mouth clean, and you don't need to try to rely on the dangerous alcohol to reduce heart attack risk!

Plus, they add a lot of unhealthful chemicals to most commercial red wines, that one would best avoid, if truly seeking health. I lump the advice to drink a little red wine daily for health, in with the advice that doctors gave a few decades ago, to take up cigarette smoking. Well-intentioned, but based on an incomplete picture and ignorance, plus self-serving for the people selling the product and promoting the advice. I think eventually, the advice will be abandoned in favor of a more complete picture and common sense.

Oh, another parallel example that may be better than cigarettes: the current craze for promoting strong dark chocolate as a health food, based on its antioxidant content. As I said, poisonous mushrooms are full of antioxidants, too! That alone does NOT make something into a health food. Chocolate is toxic to most mammals (it takes very little to kill a dog, for example), and not good for humans, at all!

I take all these reports with a grain of salt, and draw my own conclusions. In the case of red wine for example, maybe it's the act of sitting down & unwinding, thus relieving stress that is actually causing the positive health results, not the wine itself.

I think there is some benefit to red wine that hasn't been pumped full of sulfites, etc.

Either way, it makes me fall asleep.

The piano has been drinking, not me.

Besides, the cops say I can't drink and drive anymore, so if I can't pay my records when I'm drunk, what's left?
