330,000,000 books distributed through her Imagination Library, and 3000 songs written, think abut those numbers!...I live in East Tennessee, and I can assure everyone that there is as much generosity from Dolly under the radar as there is that gets publicized...she gave an undisclosed donation to the East Tennessee Children's Hospital but it was enough to get the name changed to Dolly Parton Children's Hospital...and credit where credit is due, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce recently donated 2 million dollars to Dolly's Imagination Library...although her music and movies are famous, she should be best remembered for her dedication to making EVERY persons life better through her generosity...she practiced what she preached.

Julia Roberts talked about when Dolly put her in her place on the set of Steel Magnolias. They were outside for hours and it was really hot. Everyone was putting ice on themselves and Dolly was just sitting there unbothered. Finally, Julia said "Dolly, you’ve got a wig, and the wool, I mean, c'mon. It's hot, sweat a little. Just say, 'I'm hot,' you know? 'This is a drag!'"

Dolly responded: "When I was a little girl, I wanted to be famous and I wanted to be rich, and now I'm both those things. I'm not going to complain about it."

Julia said she didn't say a word the rest of the day, and carried those words with her the rest of the career -- any time she felt the urge to complain, she would think about Dolly on that porch.

That story captures Dolly perfectly -- by all accounts she was the same in real life as she was on stage

Another of my beloved heroes gone, but man, what a life she had. Country Music Hall of Fame as a performer AND songwriter, as well as the American Music Songwriter Hall of Fame with the Gerswhins and Berlins, etc.

As they said on the series "Derry Girls" - "Swear! Swear on Dolly!"

This is what it means to be beloved. Flags at half mast here in Kentucky, a divided world coming together for this beautiful woman. RIP.

The Nashville Airport Board unanimously voted 6-0 today to rename Nashville International Airport to Dolly Parton International Airport.

That's how you are supposed to rename public and government sites & buildings in honor of people.

Others recognize the person for their life's work and do it to honor them and their family. It celebrates their life's work and brings the nation together.
